Two to come together as one. Unity to amplify a sameness and reveal a difference. Frequent collaborators S280F & 0168001 have made a simultaneous splash in the physical and digital realms they inhabit, lending to a ubiquitousness of the two individuals. As they come together once again, the '600 1' EP peels back a fragment of the mystery behind this duo (trio?), providing us with an origin story yet forever keeping out of reach their destination and inexplicable motives. It is time to relax, for today we ride shotgun in the splintering spaceship of the deranged pilot whose attention we crave.
Departing with a jolt, title track '600 1' provides us with a frantic and terse rhythm to set the stage for our journey. Proving to be able to simultaneously sound both lush and disturbing, frenetic yet controlled, S280F and 06168 use the power of this hypocrisy to thoroughly disorient the listener to pleasing effect. In the second track 'Pan Era Bare' we hear the first track that S280F & 08811 ever created together. Straight out of Panera Bread in Irvine, we witness the chemistry of two souls destined to teach and be taught. This machine was created to destroy and to build.
We board this creaking vessel begging to be lost. Pleading to be abandoned and yearning to be led. With depths that would sound right at home in the DEEP MEDI discography, 'Face Caving In’ (ft. floods) plunges us in, yet pulls back at the last minute. The sputtering sounds of the engine of the disintegrating mind running on fuels of unknown origins. With 'Dreaming "The Only Solution"' we receive the only discernible human voices on this release. Flickering in and out of our comprehension, just above the angelic pleading of the instruments beneath, as the A Side of this release concludes, we are left to wonder, who among us will find the solution?
And just as quickly as it started our journey is nearly finished. Encompassing the entire B Side of '6001' we have 'B', a 15 minute repent for the violent tendencies of its preceding side. Two faces as one. One face as two. Angels and demons, inside of us all. Atone for your sins, beg for forgiveness. Wash the plate so it can be sullied again. At the end of the journey all that is left, is the rapturous union of two becoming one, and all becoming none. Praise be to the unifiers.
